Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association

Welcome to the website of the Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association (CLAFAA). CLAFAA is the tri state chapter of the Society for the Preservation & Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America (SPAAMFAA) with participating members primarily from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are an approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of fire and emergency service history. A Brief History of the CLAFAA

The Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association was founded on January 27, 2008. The first Executive Board meeting was held on March 2, 2008 in Paulsboro, New Jersey and CLAFAA applied to become the Penn Jer Del Chapter of the Society for the Preservation & Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America (SPAAMFAA). During our first year, CLAFAA applied and was awarded the bid to host the 2013 SPAAMFAA Summer Convention in addition to also beginning the process to become a nonprofit corporation as the Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association and Museum. Activities held during our first year of existence included five (5) membership meetings, four (4) Executive Board meetings, a bus trip to the Catskill Fire Cats muster in Circleville, New York as well as two (2) of our own musters. One muster was held in Ambler, Pennsylvania and the other was held at the Rose Tree Park in Media, Pennsylvania.

On May 10, 2014, the Repaupo Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company #1’s firehouse was decommissioned. In November, 2014, a group of CLAFAA members met with representatives of the fire company to discuss the future of the firehouse and its property.
