The Cradle of Liberty would like to welcome our newest Emergency Services Organization member, the Hurffville Fire Company in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. The Hurffville Fire Company is one of three fire companies that operate within the Washington Township Fire Department. The township's two other companies, Grenloch and Whitman Square, also maintain Emergency Service organization memberships with CLAFAA.
The Hurffville members maintain a 1947 Model 45 Mack pumper. The fire company procured the Mack new for an amazing price of $6,222.43 and the apparatus remained in active service until 1980. Following a company meeting motion in early 1994, the Mack was fully restored by Delmarva Refurbishing Specialists Inc. at a cost of $59,109.08. When not being used for parades, funerals or other occasions, the Mack is proudly housed and displayed in a special museum room that was incorporated into the design of the company's firehouse when the building was built in the mid 1990s. The Hurffville Fire Company celebrated its 100th Anniversary in October of this year.
