SOLD     1978 Chevrolet C-65/Hamerly 1,000 gpm/500 GWT "Junior" Pumper.
This truck was featured on a recent back cover of Enjine! Enjine! (The SPAAMFAA antique fire apparatus club's magazine) in 2012. Truck has 15,000 miles on it and is equipped with 1,000 GPM Waterous two-stage pump model #CMB1000 with 500 gallon fiberglass water tank. Truck was in service as a reserve piece when I bought it direct from a central Pennsylvania company in July 2011. Nine fiberglass compartment doors and fiberglass fender wells with Hamerly steel rescue-style body. Chevy 427 gas engine with 5 speed manual transmission with 2 speed rear. 27,500 GVW with air brakes (17,000 unloaded). Truck comes with what equipment I have put on it including 850 feet of 3" yellow hose with Pyrolite couplings, 150' of red 1 ¾ attack hose with pistol-grip nozzle off rear, repainted white steel hose bed divider, pike pole, water thief, floating drafting strainer, Hurst #32A spreaders with gas motor for display-doesnt start, water extinguisher, 3 brand new vintage Scott II air packs: 2 with new face pieces in the bags and 2 in original vintage storage boxes, 2 older spare air bottles out of hydro, hose clamp with mounting bracket, 1 Indian Tank with mounting bracket, 2 sections of older rubber 5" hard sleeve suction hose, new 3" pump end caps, orange rechargeable hand light with charging base, set of rubber wheel chocks, 5" barrel drafting strainer, vintage orange first aid crash box, 1 flat head axe, 1 pick head axe: both with chrome mounting brackets, and other miscellaneous brackets and equipment that I never got around to mounting. Truck body and chassis exterior was 85% repainted in festive orange and white in 2012 except for the interior of the nine compartments and a small area of the hood with all original fire company lettering removed. Dayton wheels and rims were removed and sandblasted and repainted and look sharp. Diamond plate rear tailboard was replaced last year with all new material. Cab interior including floorboards are clean and is equipped with Bostrom style upgraded drivers seat and air pack officers seat. No exterior visible rust on vehicle body except some screw heads and minor surface rust inside some compartments (no rot!). Other diamond plate is in good shape but just needs shined up. All emergency lights and vintage GE Power Call siren work. Vintage Motorola Motrac mobile radio installed on dash and wired to power up but doesnt transmitt. All maintenance records available since I have owned it in 2011 including the original Waterous pump manual. Truck comes with a set of new Grover #1700 air horns with install kits still in the original boxes. Vehicle is Equipped with Cole-Hersee dual battery switch, Dunlop 10.00X20 bias tires with Dayton style wheels with tires estimated at 70% tread with the last PA safety vehicle inspection completed in 2012. Tires are old and will need replaced soon but function and hold air fine. Two new Napa batteries and new fuel saddle tank in 2011. Few expected mechanical issues for a 35 year old truck all of which can be repaired by the person that has the proper time: Small stone chip in windshield that has not expanded in the last year. Pump engages using the manual over ride at the pump panel as the electric cab switch has not worked since I have owned it. Vehicle has not been pumped since 2011 so as a result the pump's pressure relief valve sticks open due to lack of activity. Fuel tank sending unit for truck is bad so it doesn't read accurate fuel levels but doesnt affect the truck's operation. Nice aluminum finished Hannay electric rewind (chain driven) booster reel with 200 feet of older red booster hose included but reel installation was not completed yet and it currently sits unplumbed in pump pit atop truck. Truck runs strong and maxes out around 55 mph at 3,000 rpm. Speedometer cable has stopped working but I have the new cable that needs to be installed. Mileage since speedo stopped working last year can be verified with muster/show log that I keep. Truck is located 30 miles west of Philadelphia, PA. Vehicle is garaged dry and is started monthly. Many other photographs available for the serious looker only upon inquiry including full photo documentation of all body and restoration work to date. Serious inquiries only, no tire kickers. Heartbroken, I am selling it because my lifestyle does not offer me the opportunity to spend the time on it that I wish. Truck is being sold "as is" with no warranties or promises intended or implied. Shipping is not available. Short term storage may be negotiated for an additional fee. Cash or certified cashiers bank check for payment only at time of pickup. No trades. Check must clear before pick up of truck. Currently PA titled and insured. Measurements are: overall length 23'7" and height is 8'5". NEW LOWERED RESERVE! Price can be negotiated with or without equipment in certain cases.
