What is S.P.A.A.M.F.A.A.?
The initials stand for SOCIETY for the PRESERVATION & APPRECIATION of ANTIQUE MOTOR FIRE APPARATUS in AMERICA . SPAAMFAA is an organization of several thousand members, located all over the globe but primarily in the United States.
There are over fifty chapters nationwide at his time. The Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association (CLAFAA) is the Penn-Jer-Del chapter. Penn-Jer-Del stands for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, the area where we draw out primary membership from.
Ownership of an antique piece of fire apparatus is not a requirement of membership in CLAFAA or SPAAMFAA.
Membership in SPAAMFAA brings some nice rewards, such as the award winning quarterly publication "Enjine-Enjine", a subscription to the Silver Trumpet ( the inter-chapter newsletter), a copy of the annual Membership / Apparatus Roster, as well as one copy of the Sources Guide.
There is also a winter (Annual) Meeting and a summer Meeting. These are accompanied by informative seminars, trips to areas of interest in the host city, firematic flea market and a muster. For more about SPAAMFAA, visit their website. For an application, click here.
